COMPETITION ENTRY CRITERIA
- Production Must be completed in last 12 months,
- All films must have subtitles in English (British or US) except English Films
- All Feature Films must be minimum 90 minutes
- All Documentaries must be minimum 60 minutes; Series accepted if 30 mins x 2 up to 4 parts
- All Short Films must be less than 30 minutes
- If the film is not selected for competition, it can still get selected for screening in South Africa as part of IIFFSA. Selection panel will notify Film Maker in advance.
- Formats for Entry. Selected Movies will be informed about format preferably DCP:
- DVD Video – PAL
- Digital Video – PAL
NON-COMPETITION ENTRY (SCREENING ONLY)
The movie entry will be categorized as Competition or Non-Competition by Selection Panel. Selection Panels decision will be final on categorizing the Movies. We are accepting entries for Non-Competition films as well; as part of IIFFSA. Shortlisted movies will be screened in South African Theater.
COMPETITION RULES
- IIFFSA reserves right to change or update the rules without notice.
- African Feature Films, Short Films & Documentaries submissions limited to persons / production companies from African countries, must have English Subtitles.
- All Bollywood/ Regional Indian languages Feature Films, Short Films & Documentaries submissions limited to persons/ production companies from India, must have English Subtitles.
- All Indian Diaspora Feature Films, Short Films & Documentaries submissions limited to persons / production companies of Indian origin from outside India.
- Documentaries may be dubbed in English languages, i.e. not necessarily subtitled.
- Each submission must have a trailer or promo of minimum 30 seconds and up to 2 minutes in length of acceptable broadcast / screening quality. This trailer/ promo can and will be authorized by Producer / Production Company / Entrant to be used by IIFFSA for all promotions / marketing and displays in all media, publications and on ground related to IIFFSA prior to, during and after IIFFSA.
- All persons/ production companies will need to certify and provide proof of their origin, i.e. African, India or Indian Diaspora.
- IIFFSA Application Form must be completely filled out and submitted in original with all requested details and documents.
- IIFFSA will not compensate and/or provide any financial assistance and/or help in any manner to any person / production company / entity making a submission to IIFFSA.
- Producer / Production company certificate must accompany the film submission stating that the Producer / Production Company and/or any financier/ entity involved in and/or having any rights to the screening / distribution of the film authorize the Film’s entry in IIFFSA competition and for screening and for use as described herein with and for IIFFSA.
- IIFFSA will declare winners only in each category for each year at the awards ceremony on a date and a time and a venue to be decided by IIFFSA. Submitting person and/or production company and/or entity must be present on the said date(s) of IIIFFSA, time and venue to collect their award. No more than 2 persons from each winning film can come on stage to receive the award. Four (4) passes will be provided for the festival/ awards ceremony for each Feature Film and two (2) passes will be provided for each short film / documentary for the festival / awards ceremony. Any other persons wishing to attend the festival may purchase tickets in advance from the place / entity as publicly announced. Only registered persons named on the duly filled out IIFFSA Application Form submitted will be invited using the aforesaid passes to the festival / awards ceremony upon presentation of a government ID due to security reasons.
- Media related to and during IIFFSA has to be coordinated by IIFFSA Media Coordinator only.
- IIFFSA reserves the right to exclude a film from Festival if discovered that a jury member has any connection with the Selected film.
- By entering the Competition each Entrant agrees that IIFFSA shall have the right and permission to use and announce the name, picture, voice, background and biographical data, photograph, testimonial, or other likeness and/or prize information or personal exposition (and/or any edited portion thereof), and/or any information contained in his/her Entry for promotional, advertising, publicity and/or other purposes in relation to the Competition in any and all media, now or hereafter known, including but not limited to all digital and electronic media, traditional media (TV, Radio, Print) in any language, throughout the world, in perpetuity without further review, notice, approval, or compensation of Entrant. Decisions of the Competition Jury – comprising individually the Entities, Judging Panels, and Independent Judge(s) as appointed by IIFFSA – will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Competition, including interpretation and application of these Official Rules (without prejudice to any claim that could be filed before the Court). Potential Finalists, Potential Alternate finalists, Prize Winners and other Entrants at Competition Entities' sole discretion may be contacted by Competition Entities via email.
- EACH ENTRANT ACCEPTS THE CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES, AGREES TO BE BOUND BY THE DECISIONS OF THE COMPETITION ENTITIES, WITHOUT PREJUDICE OF ANY CLAIMS THAT COULD BE FILED BEFORE THE COURTS, WARRANTS THAT S/HE IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION, AND AGREES, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT THAT ANY PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH IS CAUSED BY THE RELEASED PARTIES' NEGLIGENCE AND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THAT THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CLAIMS, LOSSES, LIABILITY, AND DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEYS' FEES AND EXPENSES), ASSERTED AGAINST ANY OF THEM, INCURRED, SUSTAINED, OR ARISING IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE, ACCEPTANCE, OR MISUSE OF ANY ENTRY MATERIAL, OR WHILE PREPARING FOR, PARTICIPATING IN, AND/OR TRAVELING TO OR FROM ANY COMPETITION-RELATED ACTIVITY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, DEATH, LOSS, OR ACCIDENT TO PERSON OR PROPERTY, OR FROM THE RESPECTIVE ENTRANT'S BREACH OF ANY AGREEMENT OR WARRANTY ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMPETITION, INCLUDING THESE OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES.
ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE COMPETITION WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE COMPETITION IS A VIOLATION OF THE LAW AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE COMPETITION ENTITIES AND ANY CONSTITUENTS THEREOFRESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS' FEES) FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SUCH ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW
